Barnegat Bay

Island Beach State Park is where our states governor’s mansion is located. In no area of New Jersey is "shore life" more adequately defined. Seaside Boardwalk, IBSP and the surrounding areas serves for the true flavor of the state. Backed with years of history and thick lush environment. IBSP and the surrounding echo-systems should be explored extensively. Fox, birds and fish are a welcome site to the purest of fisherman. This section is where time does not exist. This Bay has places that are as beautiful as the lower Keys in Florida! On the northern side of the inlet is the Sedge Islands and the areas 21 and 15. This section of shore line is home to sand flats that seem to go on to the horizon. The inlet is guarded by a mile long jetty with shallow water on one side and a deep current on the other. This bay produces many stripers that push 40 lbs. a year! Also common to this area is all the species found in the "Species?" section of this site and more as the environment grows cleaner exotics make their presence known.. Offshore during the winter Hump Back Whales winter and the summer is filled with blitzes of predators crashing the surface.
This "water shed" is over 45 miles long stretching from the Point Pleasant Canal south to Little Egg Harbor. This massive bay and back estuaries also know as the sod banks is protected by government organizations and is also home to the
" Atlantic Salt Water Flyrodders." Which Captain Dick Dennis is a member of the board of directors. Fly Fishing has grown so much in this section of New Jersey that many of the hooked fish are released by the locals on a regular basis. This is truly a historic scenic environment.
